This is 14 inch Bhojpure Double Dragon & Temple Engraved Khukuri (also called kukri by people outside Nepal). This is a hand forged khukuri with its design originating in Bhojpur district in eastern Nepal. Hence the term Bhojpure (meaning originating in Bhojpur) in its name. Bhojpur is extremely famous for its khukuris and, this type of khukuris are called Bhojpure khukuris as they originate in Bhojpur.
This khukuri is slightly bigger and heavier than a standard blade khukuri. That increased weight & size gives it more power to deliver a fatal cut. There’s beautiful engraved art of the dragon and temple on one of the sides side of the blade. The other side has a single dragon engraving with mountains and hills. These beautiful engravings on the blade makes it a beautiful item to gift to your beloved friends or family members. There is a notch (kaura or kaudi) on the blade near the hilt of the khukuri which serves as conduit for the blood on the blade to drip out, thus preventing it from soiling the hilt. It also acts as a place for catching and neutralizing and enemy blades during close-quarter combat.
The craftsmanship on this knife is extremely beautiful so if you are looking for the finest quality khukuri you will be very proud to own this. The khukuri comes with a scabbard which has two pockets on the back of it. The pockets hold a blunt steel called “chakmak” for sharpening the blade or for striking spark with a flint and a small knife known as “karda” used for skinning animals, opening cans, cutting paper, cutting or peeling small fruits & vegetables etc.
